Poverty remains a significant challenge for many families in Rwanda. Helping Heart Family Rwanda (HHFR) is dedicated to implementing sustainable solutions that empower vulnerable households to break free from the cycle of poverty and build resilient, self-sufficient futures. We believe in providing tools and knowledge, not just temporary aid.

Our Poverty Alleviation Programs
We focus on empowering families through practical, income-generating initiatives:
- Distributing Domestic Animals for Livelihoods: A cornerstone of our poverty alleviation strategy involves providing vulnerable families with domestic animals such as goats and hens. These animals serve as a sustainable source of income, nutrition, and even manure for agricultural use, fostering long-term economic stability. In 2022-2023, we distributed domestic animals to 20 vulnerable families for poverty alleviation in Huye district. Our “Dukorane umurava Dutere Imbere” project has shown beneficiaries accumulating above 170,000rwf in their savings accounts.
- Providing Food Assistance During Crises: While focusing on long-term solutions, we also offer immediate relief. We provide essential food assistance to families affected by crises, such as those impacted by COVID-19, ensuring basic needs are met during difficult times. We aided 22 families affected by COVID-19 in Ngoma sector, Huye district.
- Vocational Training and Financial Literacy: We empower beneficiaries with critical skills for economic independence. This includes training in modern agriculture techniques, business management, and financial literacy (saving and entrepreneurship), enabling them to manage their resources effectively and generate sustainable income.
